Behavior of a manganese-iron mixed oxide doped with titanium in reducing the oxygen demand for CLC of biomass

Chemical Looping Combustion (CLC) is a promising carbon capture technology to contribute the development of BioEnergy with Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS) technologies. In CLC, oxygen needed for combustion supplied by solid carrier. During last years, intensive research has been conducted identify potential carriers. Iron manganese-based minerals allowed obtaining high CO2 efficiencies, but lower values efficiency, that is, demand values, due content volatiles in biomass. Manganese-iron mixed oxides doped titanium possess capability releasing molecular under specific conditions which would enhance volatile conversion. The objective present work was evaluate one these materials ((Mn66Fe)-Ti7) improve efficiency CLC biomass 0.5 kWth continuous unit. Almost 100% obtained all experiments. Once operational synthetic material (Mn66Fe)-Ti7 were optimized, it possible reach about 10% advantage carrier presented magnetic properties facilitate its separation from ashes fuel reactor.
